CONVENTION CLASSES

We have two special days of classes planned for all levels of dancer ages 7 and up! These classes are geared to challenge your technique, artistry, and class taking skills. They will expose you to new ways of thinking and processing dance. Classes in ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, and contemporary will be taught with an option to participate in the group improv session at the end of the weekend.


ENESEMBLE ADJUDICATION

Ensemble adjudication is a great opportunity for teachers to ask specific questions about competition pieces to get feedback on how to make the piece a stronger and more competitive entry. Ensembles will perform their piece and then receive immediate feedback for up to 10 minutes. Each piece will receive 3 critique tapes loaded with thoughts, suggestions, and ideas to help you refine and grow your piece.

SOLO ADJUDICATION

Solo adjudication is a great opportunity for dancers in the midst of competition season to get immediate feedback from industry professionals on their solos. Dancers will perform their solo and then stay on stage for a small private coaching session with our adjudicators of up to 10 minutes. Additionally, dancers will receive 3 critique tapes loaded with thoughts, suggestions, and ideas to help you refine and grow your piece.


PARENT SEMINAR

Does your dancer drive you crazy with their constant requests, complaints, and demands? Come join us for discussion on how you can best support your dancer no matter what their goals may be amongst other topics we will discuss injury prevention and care, nutrition, class schedules, and time management. We hope you’ll join us to learn how you can help your dancer reach their goals.

Parent Seminar 2024 will be held in Studio 1 from 1240p-140p on Saturday November 23, 2024. Bring your questions and I hope to see you there!

WHO IS TEACHING?

 

Cheryl Copeland

Cheryl Copeland graduated with a BFA in Dance Performance from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. Having studied and performed extensively in Florida, New York, Texas, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles, her training and technical expertise are reflected in her classes and choreography. She has worked under such notable choreographers as Mia Michaels, Milton Myers, Lisa Hopkins, and Kim Bears-Bailey. Finding her true passion behind the scenes, Cheryl gave up a career in performing for a much more fulfilling career in choreography and education. After serving as resident choreographer and artistic director of several pre-professional companies, she is now the full time director and founder of BHumn Arts Ensemble in Austin, Texas.


JC Schuster

JC Schuster, born and raised in Dallas, TX, is a director and choreographer with over 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry. His professional career started while touring with Tap Kids at age 14. JC moved to New York in 2011 where his TV/film/theatrical chapter started. Credits include Fosse/Verdon (FX), Annie (2014), HBO's Vinyl, Glee, Gossip Girl and Nurse Jackie. His Broadway credits include The SpongeBob SquarePants Musical which was nominated for 12 Tony awards, Fiddler on the Roof and Soul Doctor. Commercially, JC has performed for Madonna, Keith Urban, Good Morning America, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, The Today Show, The View, The Tony Awards, the Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade, and Radio City Musical Hall amongst others. For TV, JC was one of the choreographers for Orange Is the New Black and worked on the Emmy Award-Winning TV show as a choreographer's assistant and performer for Fosse/Verdon on FX.

Amanda Leise

Originally from Boulder, Colorado, Amanda attended CU as a dance major and now calls Colorado home again. While away, Amanda was on faculty at EDGE Performing Arts Center, Hollywood Vibe, and Urban Jamm. She is in high demand as a master teacher and choreographer in the U.S. and abroad. She was a guest teacher in Nicosia, Cyprus for Dance Anonymous, as well as the Boulder Jazz Dance Workshop for the past 8 years. She has performed and choreographed for Dee Caspary’s “Nvitational” and Adam Parson’s “Essential”. She performs as a member of Wild Heart Dance Company and Interweave Dance Theatre. Amanda has an infectious enthusiasm that says “let’s do this, and while we’re at it let’s have some fun.”


Nicole Morris

Nicole Ashley Morris is a movement artist from Sarasota, FL. She trained heavily with Cheryl Copeland and Sarasota Ballet all throughout her adolescence and then attended Florida State University where she received a BFA in Dance. After graduation, Nicole moved to NYC where she started to work with Kristin Sudeikis Dance and Jackie Nowicki’s NOW Dance Project. As a concert dancer, Nicole has performed works by artists Al Blackstone, Reed Luplau, Lauren Lovette, Gierre Godley, Hope Boykin, Josh Prince and Cherice Barton. On TV, Nicole has been seen on the Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen NYE special on CNN and can be seen featured in a Superbowl LV commercial for Paramount +. Currently Nicole is a lead dancer with Twyla Tharp and will embark on her first National Tour in January 2025. Nicole loves being part of any creation and offers a sincere artistic voice to any work she participates in.

Morgan Burke

At age 15, Morgan was selected to train at the prestigious Debbie Allen Dance Academy in Los Angeles, where he was on the full housing and dance scholarship. He trained at the Nashville School of the Arts and at DC Dance Factory under Stephanie Campbell and Nick Bass. He has assisted Jaquel Knight and worked intimately with such talented choreographers as Mia Michaels, Travis Wall, Teddy Forance, Tessandra Chavez, and Tabitha and Napoleon, among others. Morgan Burke has appeared on “It’s Showtime at the Apollo”, “America’s Most Talented Kids”, “Good Morning America”, and “American Juniors.” Stage credits include Florence + the Machine, Chaka Khan, and JLo. Currently, Morgan is directing his focus on dance education and choreography.
